So, this last week in the field, I saw more collective snow than I have ever seen in my life, and I'm sure that goes for most southerners I know too! I went into the field on Tuesday and there was maybe a foot of snow on the ground (still alot!) and that night it started snowing and didn't stop until saturday morning!!! That's right, no sun for 5 days! It is amazing the mental toll that takes on a person, and it was doing numbers on me. Thank goodness I was working with amazing people so we were able to laugh and keep our sanity as much as possible. Here are some pictures from the week, the biggest bonus is that the snow in Utah is very dry so it isn't the sticky wet snow that comes to us in the South, it is perfect for snowballs and snow sculptures, and doesn't get nasty very quickly....

That's incredible! Never seen that much snow in my life! I can't imagine living in a place that gets that kind of snow often. It IS pretty though! And although we don't get that here,I understand the mental toll it takes on people. That's why Alaska has one of the highest suicide rates. I start feeling really down when the sun doesn't appear for a few days here and I don't even have to deal with the frigid temps and crazy snow! Sunshine just makes me so happy and I feel blue without it for days in a row. I'm glad you had friends and laughter to keep you up while you were out there. Brady and I were thinking about you while you were out there and were talking about how tough you have to be to be out in that. I told him I'm afraid I would have been in tears! : )
I can always count on you for a comment on my blogs! It was a hard to get through the week, and I DID shed some tears this week from all the stress! Hopefully the winter doesn't get much worse than it was last week, and next week I only have to work half a week!
Neat pics. I have to say that I am very glad that the snow doesn't get that deep here! I completely understand the down feeling you get when the sun doesn't shine. We've gotten to the point where we get so excited about seeing the sun peak through the clouds every once in a while (for a while, just once a week or so). I was thinking about you a lot while you were out in the snow. Great snowman, btw. Maybe we'll get some snow before you come so we can make a snowman. At least then you can come in from the cold and have hot chocolate! :)
